# SailSpeed vs SailFreeGPS

The clearest difference is review sentiment: SailSpeed at 100% against SailFreeGPS's 65%. SailSpeed also leads on ads (none vs shown). SailFreeGPS's advantage is rating (4.2 vs 3.8) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 14 months). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SailSpeed sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and SailFreeGPS sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SailFreeGPS holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 4 and 11 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of SailSpeed's written reviews are positive against 65% of SailFreeGPS's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SailSpeed ships an update every 14 months, SailFreeGPS every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
