# PlayerKit vs TuneWave

PlayerKit and TuneWave both sit at 5.0 stars, but that hides the real split: 89% of TuneWave's written reviews are positive against 50% of PlayerKit's. TuneWave also leads on ratings volume (27 vs 5). PlayerKit's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 15.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for PlayerKit against 4.9 for TuneWave. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TuneWave has 27 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 50% of PlayerKit's written reviews are positive against 89% of TuneWave's.

PlayerKit ships an update every 3 weeks, TuneWave every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
