# SOS Explorer vs Mott Hall IV

The clearest difference is rating: SOS Explorer at 4.7 against Mott Hall IV's 3.7. SOS Explorer also leads on ratings volume (20 vs 3) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.6). Mott Hall IV's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 11 months) and review sentiment (100% vs 86%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SOS Explorer holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SOS Explorer has 20 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of SOS Explorer's written reviews are positive against 100% of Mott Hall IV's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
