# Festool vs SmartVelum

The clearest difference is update cadence: Festool at every 2 weeks against SmartVelum's every 6 months. SmartVelum's advantage is iOS requirement (11.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Festool ships an update every 2 weeks, SmartVelum every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
