# Speedometer vs GPS Speedometer

The clearest difference is rating: Speedometer at 4.7 against GPS Speedometer's 3.8. Speedometer also leads on ratings volume (2.2K vs 5). GPS Speedometer's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 months) and iOS requirement (14 vs 17.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speedometer sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and GPS Speedometer sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Speedometer holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speedometer has 2.2K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Speedometer ships an update every 6 months, GPS Speedometer fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
