# Speedometer vs Speedometer GPS

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Speedometer at 2.2K against Speedometer GPS's 18. Speedometer GPS's advantage is rating (4.9 vs 4.7) and update cadence (every 3 months vs every 6 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speedometer sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Speedometer GPS sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Speedometer GPS holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speedometer has 2.2K ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Speedometer ships an update every 6 months, Speedometer GPS every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
