# VPN99 vs Secure VPN

The clearest difference is monetization model: Secure VPN at free with in-app purchases against VPN99's subscription. Secure VPN also leads on review sentiment (82% vs 73%). VPN99's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and device support (4 vs 2). On price, rating, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN99 sells 17 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Secure VPN sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

VPN99 holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 213 and 409 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 73% of VPN99's written reviews are positive against 82% of Secure VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

VPN99 ships an update every 2 weeks, Secure VPN weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
