# VPN99 vs VPN Ninja

The clearest difference is monetization model: VPN Ninja at free with in-app purchases against VPN99's subscription. VPN Ninja also leads on review sentiment (83% vs 73%). VPN99's advantage is ratings volume (213 vs 29) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN99 sells 17 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and VPN Ninja sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $2.09 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

VPN99 holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN99 has 213 ratings behind it against 29, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 73% of VPN99's written reviews are positive against 83% of VPN Ninja's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

VPN99 ships an update every 2 weeks, VPN Ninja every 9 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
