# Dark Wave vs Boom Mania

The clearest difference is rating: Dark Wave at 4.6 against Boom Mania's 3.7. Dark Wave also leads on ratings volume (16 vs 3) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). Boom Mania's advantage is review sentiment (67% vs 52%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Dark Wave costs $1.99 and Boom Mania $1.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Dark Wave holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dark Wave has 16 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of Dark Wave's written reviews are positive against 67% of Boom Mania's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
