# Munzee vs Gun Gear

The clearest difference is rating: Gun Gear at 4.3 against Munzee's 3.7. Gun Gear also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (1.4K vs 120). Munzee's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (40% vs 5%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Munzee sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Gun Gear sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Gun Gear holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Gun Gear has 1.4K ratings behind it against 120, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 40% of Munzee's written reviews are positive against 5% of Gun Gear's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Munzee ships an update every 3 months, Gun Gear every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
