# Nature Notes vs Plant Identifier

The clearest difference is rating: Plant Identifier at 4.5 against Nature Notes's 1.0. Plant Identifier also leads on ratings volume (5.1K vs 1). Nature Notes's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Nature Notes sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Plant Identifier sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Plant Identifier holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Plant Identifier has 5.1K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Nature Notes ships an update fortnightly, Plant Identifier every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
