# NetTV vs ELK PLAYER

NetTV and ELK PLAYER both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 58% of NetTV's written reviews are positive against 11% of ELK PLAYER's. NetTV also leads on update cadence (every 3 months vs every 15 months) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). ELK PLAYER's advantage is device support (4 vs 2) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NetTV sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and ELK PLAYER sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for NetTV against 4.5 for ELK PLAYER. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NetTV has 385 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 58% of NetTV's written reviews are positive against 11% of ELK PLAYER's.

NetTV ships an update every 3 months, ELK PLAYER every 15 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
