# SpriteShowers vs PPG Paints

The clearest difference is rating: PPG Paints at 3.7 against SpriteShowers's 3.3. PPG Paints also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 21 months). SpriteShowers's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 20%) and iOS requirement (13 vs 15.0). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

PPG Paints holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 3.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 11 and 22 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of SpriteShowers's written reviews are positive against 20% of PPG Paints's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SpriteShowers ships an update every 21 months, PPG Paints every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
