# Sharelock vs App Lock

The clearest difference is ads: Sharelock at none against App Lock's shown. Sharelock also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). App Lock's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (6.6K vs 1). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sharelock sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and App Lock sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Sharelock holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: App Lock has 6.6K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Sharelock ships an update every 3 months, App Lock every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
