# VPN vs Secure VPN

The clearest difference is ratings volume: VPN at 2.1M against Secure VPN's 409. VPN also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.4) and chart position (#12 vs unranked). Secure VPN's advantage is iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and Secure VPN sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN has 2.1M ratings behind it against 409, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 90% of VPN's written reviews are positive against 82% of Secure VPN's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
