# VPN vs Shiftlyx

The clearest difference is ads: Shiftlyx at none against VPN's shown. Shiftlyx also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and review sentiment (100% vs 91%). VPN's advantage is ratings volume (2.1M vs 3) and chart position (#12 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and Shiftlyx sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Shiftlyx holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN has 2.1M ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 91% of VPN's written reviews are positive against 100% of Shiftlyx's.

VPN ships an update every 6 days, Shiftlyx weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
