# WD vs Caern

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Caern at 76% against WD's 20%. Caern also leads on update cadence (every 5 months vs every 30 months). WD's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 3.3) and ratings volume (120 vs 3). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

WD holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: WD has 120 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 20% of WD's written reviews are positive against 76% of Caern's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

WD ships an update every 30 months, Caern every 5 months. Both last shipped on November 2, 2026.
