# KeyTyper vs Type

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Type at 100% against KeyTyper's 50%. KeyTyper's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 3.0) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 5 weeks). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

KeyTyper holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 2 and 2 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of KeyTyper's written reviews are positive against 100% of Type's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

KeyTyper ships an update every 5 days, Type every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
