# Criptext Secure Email vs black.com

The clearest difference is rating: Criptext Secure Email at 4.7 against black.com's 3.6. Criptext Secure Email also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ratings volume (1.2K vs 9). black.com's advantage is review sentiment (67% vs 56%). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. black.com sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $4.99 per month. Criptext Secure Email asks for nothing beyond the download.

Criptext Secure Email holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Criptext Secure Email has 1.2K ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of Criptext Secure Email's written reviews are positive against 67% of black.com's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Criptext Secure Email ships an update every 3 weeks, black.com every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
