# ProtectVPN vs i2VPN

The clearest difference is rating: i2VPN at 4.6 against ProtectVPN's 3.8. i2VPN also leads on review sentiment (86% vs 48%) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 months). ProtectVPN's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and ads (none vs shown). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ProtectVPN sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and i2VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

i2VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: i2VPN has 3.7K ratings behind it against 205, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 48% of ProtectVPN's written reviews are positive against 86% of i2VPN's.

ProtectVPN ships an update every 4 months, i2VPN every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
