# ToonR vs Character Maker

The clearest difference is rating: Character Maker at 4.5 against ToonR's 3.5. Character Maker also leads on review sentiment (89% vs 67%) and ratings volume (7.5K vs 395). ToonR's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ToonR sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Character Maker sells 13 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Character Maker holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Character Maker has 7.5K ratings behind it against 395, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 67% of ToonR's written reviews are positive against 89% of Character Maker's.

ToonR ships an update fortnightly, Character Maker every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
