# Simple Log vs Big Yellow Diary

The clearest difference is update cadence: Big Yellow Diary at every 6 days against Simple Log's monthly. Simple Log's advantage is iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Simple Log sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.49 per month and Big Yellow Diary sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Simple Log ships an update monthly, Big Yellow Diary every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
