# ControlPlus vs Authenticator ® App

The clearest difference is rating: Authenticator ® App at 4.4 against ControlPlus's 1.0. Authenticator ® App also leads on ratings volume (3.4K vs 1) and chart position (#88 vs unranked). ControlPlus's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 13) and ads (none vs shown). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Authenticator ® App sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. ControlPlus asks for nothing beyond the download.

Authenticator ® App holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Authenticator ® App has 3.4K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 26% of ControlPlus's written reviews are positive against 19% of Authenticator ® App's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

ControlPlus ships an update monthly, Authenticator ® App every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
