# MX Video Player vs Private Video Browser

MX Video Player and Private Video Browser both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 60% of Private Video Browser's written reviews are positive against 23% of MX Video Player's. Private Video Browser also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.6). MX Video Player's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (3.8K vs 233). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MX Video Player sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and Private Video Browser sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $5.00 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MX Video Player holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MX Video Player has 3.8K ratings behind it against 233, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 23% of MX Video Player's written reviews are positive against 60% of Private Video Browser's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
