# Satori Reader vs J

The clearest difference is update cadence: J at every 3 weeks against Satori Reader's every 3 months. J also leads on iOS requirement (9.0 vs 15.0). Satori Reader's advantage is ratings volume (217 vs 23). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Satori Reader sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month and J sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Satori Reader against 4.8 for J. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Satori Reader has 217 ratings behind it against 23, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 90% of Satori Reader's written reviews are positive against 95% of J's.

Satori Reader ships an update every 3 months, J every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
