# iSecure vs Messenger VPN

The clearest difference is ads: Messenger VPN at none against iSecure's shown. Messenger VPN also leads on ratings volume (3.6K vs 1) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.0). iSecure's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and update cadence (every 8 days vs every 5 months). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. iSecure sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Messenger VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

iSecure holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Messenger VPN has 3.6K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

iSecure ships an update every 8 days, Messenger VPN every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
