# Metronome vs Impulse

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Impulse at none against Metronome's 1. Impulse also leads on ratings volume (945 vs 89) and update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months). Metronome's advantage is iOS requirement (9.0 vs 14.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Metronome sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Impulse asks for nothing beyond the download.

Impulse holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Impulse has 945 ratings behind it against 89, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 84% of Metronome's written reviews are positive against 92% of Impulse's.

Metronome ships an update every 2 months, Impulse monthly. Both last shipped on November 2, 2026.
