# Frontend Masters vs Keyoku

The clearest difference is monetization model: Keyoku at freemium against Frontend Masters's subscription. Keyoku also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Frontend Masters's advantage is ratings volume (347 vs 1) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 26.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Frontend Masters sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $39.99 per month and Keyoku sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Keyoku holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Frontend Masters has 347 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Frontend Masters ships an update every 3 weeks, Keyoku every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
