# Engine Sounds vs Gun Gear

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Engine Sounds at 100% against Gun Gear's 4%. Engine Sounds also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 17). Gun Gear's advantage is rating (4.3 vs 2.8) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 12 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Gun Gear sells 17 one-off in-app purchases. Engine Sounds asks for nothing beyond the download.

Gun Gear holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Gun Gear has 1.4K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Engine Sounds's written reviews are positive against 4% of Gun Gear's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Engine Sounds ships an update every 12 months, Gun Gear every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
