# Shadows vs Showpass

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Shadows at 75% against Showpass's 15%. Shadows also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 16.0). Showpass's advantage is rating (4.0 vs 3.0) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Showpass holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Showpass has 16 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Shadows's written reviews are positive against 15% of Showpass's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Shadows ships an update every 2 months, Showpass fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
