# THE vs Palm Reader

The clearest difference is review sentiment: THE at 68% against Palm Reader's 26%. THE also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 2) and ads (none vs shown). Palm Reader's advantage is rating (4.2 vs 3.8) and ratings volume (580 vs 60). On price, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Palm Reader sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. THE asks for nothing beyond the download.

Palm Reader holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Palm Reader has 580 ratings behind it against 60, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of THE's written reviews are positive against 26% of Palm Reader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

THE ships an update every 3 weeks, Palm Reader every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
