# Drinker's Edition vs SipSonar

The clearest difference is ads: SipSonar at none against Drinker's Edition's shown. SipSonar also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Drinker's Edition's advantage is ratings volume (634 vs 12) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 6 months). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Drinker's Edition against 5.0 for SipSonar. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Drinker's Edition has 634 ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two.
