# Scanner vs PDF Scanner

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Scanner at 2.3K against PDF Scanner's 28. Scanner also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.5) and update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scanner sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and PDF Scanner sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scanner holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scanner has 2.3K ratings behind it against 28, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 90% of Scanner's written reviews are positive against 82% of PDF Scanner's.

Scanner ships an update every 5 weeks, PDF Scanner every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
