# Growee vs MRCOOL SmartHVAC

The clearest difference is rating: MRCOOL SmartHVAC at 4.7 against Growee's 3.3. MRCOOL SmartHVAC also leads on ratings volume (9.8K vs 4) and iOS requirement (13 vs 15.1). Growee's advantage is review sentiment (67% vs 49%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

MRCOOL SmartHVAC holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MRCOOL SmartHVAC has 9.8K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Growee's written reviews are positive against 49% of MRCOOL SmartHVAC's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Growee ships an update every 2 weeks, MRCOOL SmartHVAC every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
