# Stage Timer vs Riverside

Stage Timer and Riverside both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 86% of Stage Timer's written reviews are positive against 36% of Riverside's. Stage Timer also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 9) and iOS requirement (9.3 vs 18.0). Riverside's advantage is ratings volume (20K vs 11) and chart position (#165 vs unranked). On price, rating and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Riverside sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Stage Timer asks for nothing beyond the download.

Riverside holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Riverside has 20K ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of Stage Timer's written reviews are positive against 36% of Riverside's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
