# Profoto Control vs Westcott

The clearest difference is rating: Profoto Control at 4.7 against Westcott's 2.9. Profoto Control also leads on ratings volume (896 vs 19) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 6 months). Westcott's advantage is iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.6). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Profoto Control holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Profoto Control has 896 ratings behind it against 19, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 38% of Profoto Control's written reviews are positive against 42% of Westcott's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Profoto Control ships an update every 2 months, Westcott every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
