# UpNote vs Motif

The clearest difference is ratings volume: UpNote at 1.1K against Motif's 1. UpNote also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks) and review sentiment (86% vs 78%). Motif's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. UpNote sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Motif sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Motif holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: UpNote has 1.1K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of UpNote's written reviews are positive against 78% of Motif's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpNote ships an update weekly, Motif every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
