# DreamHack vs MagicCon

The clearest difference is update cadence: DreamHack at every 2 weeks against MagicCon's every 4 months. DreamHack also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). MagicCon's advantage is ratings volume (119 vs 17). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 2.4 for DreamHack against 2.4 for MagicCon. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MagicCon has 119 ratings behind it against 17, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 13% of DreamHack's written reviews are positive against 15% of MagicCon's.

DreamHack ships an update every 2 weeks, MagicCon every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on September 16, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
