# The VideoKid vs Dissolve

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Dissolve at 84% against The VideoKid's 36%. Dissolve also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.3). The VideoKid's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (776 vs 118). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The VideoKid sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Dissolve sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Dissolve holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The VideoKid has 776 ratings behind it against 118, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 36% of The VideoKid's written reviews are positive against 84% of Dissolve's.

The VideoKid ships an update weekly, Dissolve fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
