# Egg Timer vs ShadowTimer

The clearest difference is ads: ShadowTimer at none against Egg Timer's shown. ShadowTimer also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 46 months) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Egg Timer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and ShadowTimer sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Egg Timer ships an update every 46 months, ShadowTimer every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
