# French 101 vs Write It! English

The clearest difference is review sentiment: French 101 at 100% against Write It! English's 57%. French 101 also leads on ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 14.0). Write It! English's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 19 months) and rating (4.8 vs 4.6). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. French 101 sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Write It! English sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Write It! English holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 54 and 22 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of French 101's written reviews are positive against 57% of Write It! English's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

French 101 ships an update every 19 months, Write It! English every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on November 2, 2026.
