# BLK PRIME vs Melaninflicks

The clearest difference is rating: Melaninflicks at 5.0 against BLK PRIME's 3.5. Melaninflicks also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and update cadence (monthly vs every 7 months). BLK PRIME's advantage is ratings volume (247 vs 3). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BLK PRIME sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Melaninflicks sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Melaninflicks holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BLK PRIME has 247 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

BLK PRIME ships an update every 7 months, Melaninflicks monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
