# Magnetic Tool vs Trane® Technician

The clearest difference is rating: Trane® Technician at 4.8 against Magnetic Tool's 2.9. Trane® Technician also leads on ratings volume (220 vs 20). Magnetic Tool's advantage is review sentiment (38% vs 25%) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Trane® Technician holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Trane® Technician has 220 ratings behind it against 20, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 38% of Magnetic Tool's written reviews are positive against 25% of Trane® Technician's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Magnetic Tool ships an update every 6 weeks, Trane® Technician every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
