# Sonar Mobile vs Pre

The clearest difference is rating: Pre at 5.0 against Sonar Mobile's 4.2. Pre also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.0). Sonar Mobile's advantage is update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (10 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Pre holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sonar Mobile has 10 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Sonar Mobile ships an update every 6 weeks, Pre every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
