# SolarGo vs SMA Energy

The clearest difference is monetization model: SolarGo at free against SMA Energy's free with in-app purchases. SolarGo also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). SMA Energy's advantage is ratings volume (1.4K vs 8) and review sentiment (29% vs 10%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SMA Energy holds the better App Store score, 3.8 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SMA Energy has 1.4K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two.
