# BlackFog Privacy vs Dark Browser

The clearest difference is monetization model: Dark Browser at free with in-app purchases against BlackFog Privacy's subscription. Dark Browser also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs monthly) and ratings volume (1.2K vs 76). BlackFog Privacy's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (60% vs 31%). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BlackFog Privacy sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Dark Browser sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for BlackFog Privacy against 4.4 for Dark Browser. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dark Browser has 1.2K ratings behind it against 76, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 60% of BlackFog Privacy's written reviews are positive against 31% of Dark Browser's.

BlackFog Privacy ships an update monthly, Dark Browser every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
