# Hy vs Throwly

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Throwly at 100% against Hy's 13%. Throwly also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.2) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Hy's advantage is ratings volume (20K vs 11). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Throwly holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hy has 20K ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 13% of Hy's written reviews are positive against 100% of Throwly's.

Hy ships an update weekly, Throwly every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
