# SimpleSENCE vs Airthings

The clearest difference is monetization model: SimpleSENCE at free against Airthings's free with in-app purchases. SimpleSENCE also leads on review sentiment (57% vs 33%) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 17.6). Airthings's advantage is ratings volume (3K vs 8) and rating (4.4 vs 4.1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Airthings holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Airthings has 3K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of SimpleSENCE's written reviews are positive against 33% of Airthings's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SimpleSENCE ships an update every 3 weeks, Airthings fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
