# Scanner Vault vs PDF

The clearest difference is ads: Scanner Vault at none against PDF's shown. Scanner Vault also leads on review sentiment (94% vs 60%) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 weeks). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scanner Vault sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $29.99 per year and PDF sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scanner Vault holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scanner Vault has 15K ratings behind it against 1.4K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 94% of Scanner Vault's written reviews are positive against 60% of PDF's.

Scanner Vault ships an update fortnightly, PDF every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
