# Countdown vs Altruize

The clearest difference is update cadence: Countdown at every 4 days against Altruize's every 2 months. Countdown also leads on ratings volume (188K vs 12) and rating (4.8 vs 4.6). Altruize's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 72%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Countdown sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Altruize sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Countdown holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Countdown has 188K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 72% of Countdown's written reviews are positive against 100% of Altruize's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Countdown ships an update every 4 days, Altruize every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and September 24, 2026 respectively.
